“The Nightmare on Elm Street” remake

2 10 2009

I don’t think the people behind these movies realize that the high production values and expensive look make them less scary, not more.  That’s why the remakes of The Amityville Horror, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and all the other ones sucked.  They lose that gritty, raw edge. Plus, seeing Michael Bay as producer and the fact that this director hasn’t done anything outside of music videos means this’ll probably be way over-stylized and completely empty.  And of course they’re going to explain Kruger’s complete backstory, so there’ll be absolutely no mystery surrounding the character, because of course the more you know about a villain the scarier he is.  It’s too bad because I think this could have been great (new special effects could have really made the dream sequences better).  Ok, end rant.

Jackie Earle Haley will probably be great as Krueger though, and I hope he got paid a shitload of money for this.

where are the super-sadistic, super-high-concept, super-pervy death sequences followed by relentless punning?

seriously, what exactly does Michael Bay think people liked about the original?
